The Rangely Panthers were the 50-49 winner over the De Beque Dragons when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Rangely was the victim of a tough 63-42 loss at the hands of De Beque on Saturday. Rangely was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.
Rangely lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clay Allred, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Allred is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacey Allred, who scored five points along with three steals.
De Beque's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Scottie Vines, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vines has scored all season. Burke Largent was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Rangely has not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for De Beque, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Rangely will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Vail Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Vail Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for De Beque, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ridgway at 6:30 p.m. Ridgway is coming into the contest with five straight defeats on the road, meaning De Beque will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
