After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Mecklenburg, the Piedmont Panthers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-44 win over Union Academy. For Piedmont, this counts as revenge for the 48-47 loss Union Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2018.
Miles Leaks was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Little, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
Piedmont now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Union Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Piedmont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Marvin Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Marvin Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Piedmont in North Carolina (Marvin Ridge is ranked 116th, while Piedmont is ranked 300th). As for Union Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory Grove Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
