The Jefferson Christian Academy Eagles waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They skirted past Altamont 37-35. That's another feather in the cap for Jefferson Christian Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jefferson Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Allison Wormely out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Wormely has scored at least a third of Jefferson Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jada Washington, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Altamont saw an underclassman step up: Madison Goldberg scored 12 points along with six steals. Goldberg is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Tanner Battle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Jefferson Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Altamont, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Christian Academy will take on Victory Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Altamont, they will head out on the road to take on Cornerstone at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
