Softball Recap: Beaverton Has No Trouble Against Liberty

Beaverton lost to Liberty back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Beavers put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 15-7 win. With that victory, the Beavers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Zinnia Berg and Addison Riedel made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Berg pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Riedel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. At bat, Berg scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Riedel went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Riedel also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Beaverton let Amy Rusin and Tina Padilla run wild. Rusin went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Padilla went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Rusin also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Halle Lafontaine was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Beaverton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Beaverton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Beaverton and Liberty will both be playing McKay the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Royal Scots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Beavers will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
