The Ingleside Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Robstown 58-35. The result was nothing new for Ingleside, who have now won seven games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Ingleside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Jakobsohn out in front who threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Jakobsohn is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. Ingleside also got a significant boost from Nathan Ambrose, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 201 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Robstown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derek Silva. Despite the final result, he threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Sanchez, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Ingleside's win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Carrizo Springs and 3-8 West Oso (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.7% over those games). As for Robstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Orange Grove the next time they take the field. Ingleside will host Orange Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Robstown will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
