The Grandview Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Heritage Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Grandview took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Northfield as Grandview made off with a 12-1 victory.
Ethan Wachsmann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Maroni, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kayden Bohmeyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Heritage can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Arapahoe 15-5. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024.
Jaden McKinney looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Bode Shoen was incredible, firing off two home runs and one double while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in runs (two). Jameson Switzer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arapahoe only posted an OBP of .393.
The win got Grandview back to even at 1-1. As for Heritage, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
