The Moreno Valley Vikings won the last time they faced the San Jacinto Tigers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Moreno Valley came out on top against San Jacinto by a score of 56-47. Winning is a bit easier when you drain five more threes than your opponent, as Moreno Valley did.
Moreno Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamall Thompson, who scored 14 points. The contest was Thompson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hayes, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, San Jacinto still got an impressive performance from Stephen Castleberry, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Castleberry scored a full 40.4% of San Jacinto's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Omar Garcia, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Moreno Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for San Jacinto, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Moreno Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Arroyo Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arroyo Valley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for San Jacinto, they will head out on the road to face off against Tahquitz at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahquitz has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
