The Lafayette County Huskers will face off against the Marshall Owls at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette County's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lafayette County's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Knob Noster hitters got past them. The Huskers lost 16-6 to the Panthers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Huskers have suffered since April 7th.
Meanwhile, Marshall had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Odessa on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Owls' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Brock Marshall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marshall was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chase Thompson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myer Klinge, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Marshall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lafayette County's loss dropped their record down to 10-10-1. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 2-16.
