Basketball Recap: Goleman Piles Up the Points Against Everglades Prep Academy

While Goleman didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 68-29 victory over the Everglades Prep Academy Panther. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Franki Sosa was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcelo Bautista, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Goleman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Goleman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Everglades Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goleman will take on Nova in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Goleman has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three matches. As for Everglades Prep Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Keys Gate at 7:30 p.m. on January 15, 2025.
