Baseball Recap: Broughton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Broughton waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Willow Spring Storm. The Capitals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Carson Carroll was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Cooper Wall looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Matthew Solomon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Mason Hawkins was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Broughton's record is now 11-4. As for Willow Spring, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broughton will challenge Enloe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Willow Spring, they will face off against Green Hope at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
