The Valley Forge Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 46-34 to Lakewood. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley Forge in their matchups with Lakewood: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leah Plum, who scored five points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Mikayla Hoang was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Valley Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Forge will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nordonia at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakewood will be home for the holidays to greet Wadsworth at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wadsworth presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakewood in Ohio (Wadsworth is ranked 86th, while Lakewood is ranked 354th).
