For the first time this season, Sacramento will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rodriguez Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Sacramento turned things around against Florin on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 25-9 victory. The Dragons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Aris DELONG, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila WARE, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Royals a 23-0 shutout. The Mustangs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.
Angelique Boot was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alanna Williams was incredible, scoring five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Jasmyn White was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Rodriguez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Rodriguez pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sacramento, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
