Soccer Game Preview: Woodgrove vs. Rock Ridge

Woodgrove has gone a perfect 3-0 against Rock Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Woodgrove is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Loudoun County on Wednesday. The Wolverines took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Captains. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Woodgrove haven't been shut out since back in March.

Meanwhile, Rock Ridge also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Loudoun Valley by a score of 3-1. Rock Ridge have struggled against Loudoun Valley recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Rock Ridge's goal came courtesy of Jolyne Ma, which was the first she's scored this season.

Rock Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Woodgrove, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6-1 record.

Everything went Woodgrove's way against Rock Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Woodgrove made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
