Girard hasn't had much luck against Fairview recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Girard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Fairview will be up against a hot Girard squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Yellowjackets came out on top against Northwestern by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly four runs.

Carson Stevens looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Girard got a big performance out of Mason Kalicky, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Kalicky has hit this season. Sam Schepers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Girard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Fairview never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Conneaut Area on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Tigers have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Vinny Campoli made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Fairview: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Campoli was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Robert Benford and Brayden Hennessy did most of the damage at the plate: Benford went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Hennessy went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke Rzodkiewicz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Girard's record now sits at 8-2. As for Fairview, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Girard's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Yellowjackets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fairview, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Girard continue to outrun the ball?
Girard couldn't quite get it done against Fairview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
