The Northeastern Eagles won the last time they faced the Currituck County Knights, and things went their way on Friday too. Northeastern came out on top against Currituck County by a score of 58-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northeastern.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sayvion Saunders, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakeel Stallings, who scored 16 points.
Despite the defeat, Currituck County had strong showings from Jamie Dance, who scored nine points along with eight assists and six rebounds, and Luke Morgan, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Cowell, who scored 11 points.
Northeastern is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Currituck County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Northeastern will head out on the road to challenge First Flight at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Flight knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Northeastern likes a good challenge. As for Currituck County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hertford County at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hertford County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Currituck County in North Carolina (Hertford County is ranked 109th, while Currituck County is ranked 260th).
