The Riesel Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mart. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Riesel of the 43-41 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Riesel still got an impressive performance from Trent Hickerson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hickerson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Hoelscher, who scored four points along with four steals.
Riesel has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Mart, their victory bumped their record up to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riesel will take on Hubbard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mart, they will head out on the road to square off against Marlin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlin is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
