The Canton Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with an 80-67 victory over Putnam County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Preston Brewer was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Chris Alspaw, who scored 19 points.
Canton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Putnam County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.
Canton will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Putnam County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Trenton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 464th, while the Midgets are ranked 199th).
