Cristo Rey Research Triangle took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Henderson Collegiate, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulls sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Pride on Monday.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (99-98) Cristo Rey Research Triangle actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Carolina Friends came up short against Burlington Christian Academy on Friday and fell 3-1. While the Quakers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Royals 25-18 in the first set.
Carolina Friends started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-14.
Carolina Friends' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Cristo Rey Research Triangle might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Carolina Friends in their previous meeting on September 12th. Can the Bulls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
