After losing to the South Aiken Thoroughbreds the last time they met, the Airport Eagles decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Airport sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over South Aiken on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Airport.
Airport was led to victory by Santana Reese and Ja'sia Booth. Reese dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Booth scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Reese is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyosha Hammond, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, South Aiken still got an impressive performance from Sumara Williams, who scored 14 points. Jasmine Epps was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Airport's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for South Aiken, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Airport will take on North Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Augusta is coming into the contest with nine straight wins on the road, so Airport is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for South Aiken, they will be playing at home against Midland Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Aiken is facing Midland Valley at the right time seeing as Midland Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
