Franklin extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 14-4 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ross Rams, sneaking past 12-10. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered an 8-1 loss the last time these two teams met.
Hailey Cooper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cooper was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sarah Brooks was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Josie Whitt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
As for Ross, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.83 runs allowed.
On Ross' side, they got a good showing from Taylor Bertram, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Bertram has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Olivia Powers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kam Commins, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Franklin will have a chance to go back-to-back against Ross: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
