Southern Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Jackson Academy Eagles as the Southern Academy Cougars made off with a 13-1 win. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.
BoBraeden Agee made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Agee was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Brayden Hennigan and Cooper Thorn did most of the damage at the plate: Hennigan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Thorn scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Hennigan has posted since back in February of 2024. Wyatt Martin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Southern Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson Academy only posted an OBP of .286.
Southern Academy's record now sits at 3-0.
Coming up, Southern Academy will take on Morgan Academy in a tournament on Saturday. Jackson Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lakeside School at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
