The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will square off against the Union City Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Kouts is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Tri-County get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Give the Mustangs & Fillies' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Tri-County's batters probably weren't too happy with Billy Miller, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Miller has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kouts' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Reid Estill, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Union City made easy work of Northfield on Saturday and carried off a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jayson Connor made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs. Union City is 9-2 when Connor posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Collins, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Union City: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Trendon Spence was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Kouts' record is now 25-6. As for Union City, their record now sits at 13-11.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Kouts has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Union City struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
