Ludlow will head out on the road to challenge Augusta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Ludlow turned things around against Holmes on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Bulldogs. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jackson Mays was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Ludlow is 2-1 when Mays allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Mays was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Joseph Scott and Parker Trenkamp did most of the damage at the plate: Scott scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Trenkamp scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Trenkamp has posted since back in March of 2024. Chris Perkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Ludlow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Augusta waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Black Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Panthers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Will Kelsch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kelsch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Augusta let Grayson Miller and Griffin Miller run wild. Grayson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Griffin scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeton Bach, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Augusta's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ludlow, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Ludlow's way against Augusta in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Ludlow made off with a 15-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ludlow since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
