The Stafford Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Columbia Roughnecks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stafford has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
Last Friday, Stafford had to suffer through a rough 53-9 loss at the hands of the Pioneers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Stafford has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Columbia suffered a tough 51-29 defeat at the hands of the Exporters on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Columbia in their matchups with the Exporters: they've now lost three in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Kaleese Swanks, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Lewis, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Stafford's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-19. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Columbia, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season.
Stafford came up short against the Roughnecks when the teams last played back in January, falling 49-40. Can Stafford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
