Doherty is 8-2 against the Terrors since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Doherty Spartans will be playing at home against the Palmer Terrors at 7:00 p.m. Doherty has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 750 points over their last 11 contests.
A well-balanced attack led Doherty over the Lancers in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Doherty blew the Lancers out of the water with a 74-31 final score. That looming 74-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Doherty yet this season.
Doherty had a senior duo take command as Solomon Latimer almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds and James Pulliam scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Pulliam is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Mack, who scored four points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Palmer entered their tilt with the Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Palmer took down the Tigers 65-47 on Thursday. Given Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Tigers are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palmer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was J'twane Mike out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mike has scored all season. Jackson Weber was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Doherty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Palmer, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Saturday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Doherty have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Palmer struggles in that department as they've made 43% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Doherty strolled past the Terrors when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 72-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Palmer's Jameer Satchell, who scored 21 points. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Doherty to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
