The Pleasant Hope Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Marionville on the road and fell 72-16. Pleasant Hope was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-10.
Marionville was led to victory by Anna Bright and Lucy Newberry. Bright went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist, while Newberry scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bright has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dally Pomeroy, who scored six points along with two steals.
Pleasant Hope has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Marionville, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Pleasant Hope will head out on the road to square off against Marionville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marionville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
