While losing is never fun, Providence Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Downers Grove North is ranked 29th).
Downers Grove North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hope Sebek, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Sebek has scored at least 25% of Downers Grove North's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Thulin, who scored 10 points.
Providence Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Downers Grove North, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Providence Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Saint Ignatius College Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Downers Grove North, they will face off against Nazareth Academy at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Nazareth Academy's defense has only allowed 22.8 points per game this season, so Downers Grove North's offense will have their work cut out for Downers Grove North.
