The Wheat Ridge Farmers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 49-26 defeat at the hands of Golden. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wheat Ridge has suffered against Golden since February 14, 2019.
Despite the loss, Wheat Ridge still got an impressive performance from Vanaiha Galdean, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Among those leading the charge was Presley Kirkpatrick, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Allie Neal was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wheat Ridge bumped their record down to 6-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Golden, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Wheat Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Conifer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Conifer comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Golden, they will be playing at home against Alameda at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Golden is ranked 132nd).
