The Boulder Creek Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Westwood Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Boulder Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Boulder Creek faced off against Maryvale on Tuesday. Boulder Creek never let Maryvale get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Avery Gurr made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Bailey Kerr was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Hayden Hale also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Boulder Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Westwood faced West Point in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Westwood walked away with a 15-10 victory over West Point. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the match before.
Navi Brinkerhoff and Hope Hutchins did most of the damage at the plate: Brinkerhoff fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Hutchins went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Brinkerhoff has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Stacey, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Boulder Creek's record is now 5-1. As for Westwood, their record now sits at 4-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boulder Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .417. However, it's not like Westwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Boulder Creek's way against Westwood when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as Boulder Creek made off with a 13-3 win. Will Boulder Creek repeat their success, or does Westwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
