Basketball Recap: First Baptist Christian Academy Comes Up Short

First Baptist Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Matanzas Pirates. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 44-42.

Despite the loss, First Baptist Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julia (Jay) Rose posted 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanigh Armeaud, who put up two points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, First Baptist Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

First Baptist Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Matanzas, they moved to 8-8 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
