Fishers and Westfield are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Tigers will welcome the Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Fishers is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Yorktown, who was ranked 11th at the time (Fishers was ranked 24th). Fishers lost 3-0 to Yorktown on Tuesday. Fishers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Fishers was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Yorktown work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Westfield had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Huskies.
Westfield was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20.
Westfield's win came from a few key players Fishers will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emily Blevins, who had seven digs and two aces. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabby Bassett, who had ten digs and two aces.
Westfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive matches.
Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 22-1. As for Fishers, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
