It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Northland Christian Cougars can now relate to. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-28 walloping at the hands of the Saints on Saturday. Northland Christian's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Northland Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Hall, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Rome Stanford, who gained 117 total yards.
Leading First Baptist to victory were Hunter McCoy and Alijah Cason. McCoy threw for 371 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.8 yards per attempt, while Cason gained 284 total yards and four touchdowns. McCoy hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for nine straight games. First Baptist also got a significant boost from Mark Rayson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Northland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for First Baptist, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Northland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. First Baptist will head out on the road to face off against Lubbock Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lubbock Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
