Basketball Recap: Homer-Center Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Homer-Center had won two straight road games and Max Voyda did his part to make it three on Saturday. The Homer-Center Wildcats enjoyed a cozy 54-36 victory over the Ferndale Yellow Jackets thanks in part to Voyda, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Nash Budner, who posted six points in addition to six boards and five assists. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Ferndale still got an impressive performance from Joe Prave, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 22 points and five steals. Prave is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Washington, who put up six points.

Homer-Center is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Ferndale, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Homer-Center wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-36 win against Purchase Line on the 2nd. As for Ferndale, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Forbes Road at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
