The Ramona Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to San Marcos 66-61. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ramona in their matchups with San Marcos: they've now lost four in a row.
Ramona's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Dillon, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dillon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Newman, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds.
San Marcos found their leader in underclassman Jalen Williams, who scored 25 points along with four steals. Williams continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derek Tuason, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Ramona has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for San Marcos, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ramona will take on Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Norte presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ramona in California (Del Norte is ranked 281st, while Ramona is ranked 688th). As for San Marcos, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mission Hills at 7:00 p.m. Mission Hills will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
