Avoyelles has gone a perfect 4-0 against Oakdale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avoyelles has five straight victories, Oakdale has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Avoyelles is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Bolton Academy to the tune of 69-0 on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won four matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Avoyelles' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Scott, who rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Kenterrius Franks was another key rusher, rushing for 40 yards and two TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Avoyelles proved: they limited Bolton Academy to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. Avoyelles' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.74 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.9 on average over their last five games.

Avoyelles didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden Murray and Franks. Franks got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Oakdale was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 19-14 to Port Barre.

Oakdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Avoyelles, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Avoyelles was able to grind out a solid victory over Oakdale in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 32-20. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
