Dooly County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Wilcox County Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dooly County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Dooly County suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 41-12 loss at the hands of Macon County. While losing is never fun, Dooly County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while Macon County is ranked 253rd).
Meanwhile, Wilcox County stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Crisp County with a sharp 51-30 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Wilcox County has posted against Crisp County since November 18, 2017.
Dooly County dropped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Wilcox County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-2.
Dooly County was taken down by Wilcox County 52-3 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dooly County was down 40-0.
