A big 22-point first quarter helped carry
Beaver Falls (Pa.) to a 43-7 victory over Lincoln (Ellwood City, Pa.) on Saturday.
The Tigers scored on a
Rob Bell touchdown run, a touchdown catch by
Sage Curry and a punt return touchdown by
Elijah Cottrill in the quarter.
Beaver Falls was up 36-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Bell touchdown run in the first quarter.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 36 entering the fourth.
The the Tigers raced to 22 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.
The Tigers' standout player in the win was Cottrill. The sophomore quarterback ran for one touchdown.
The Wolverine's Brandon Magnifico was the standout player for his team. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.
Lincoln's lone touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from Magnifico to Christian Sarver in the third quarter.
The victory will ease some of the sting of Beaver Falls' close 31-28 loss to LHS last season.
The loss was the third in a row for the Ellwood City school. With the win BF extended its winning streak to three games.
Beaver Falls (3-0) will play a WPIAL AA Midwestern game against Beaver next week, while Lincoln (0-3) will take on Chartiers Valley in a non-conference game.
