If the Mount Vernon Mustangs were riding high off their 74-44 takedown of the King's Ridge Christian Tigers on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mount Vernon was the victim of a rough 76-56 loss at the hands of Grayson on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Mount Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Grayson is ranked first).
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sha'yah Goba, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Xavier Shegog, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Grayson, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Mount Vernon will be playing at home against Wilson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilson Academy is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Grayson, they will challenge Parkview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkview is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
