In what's become a running theme this season, the Central Cobras gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They breezed by Centennial on the road to the tune of 88-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Central has posted since December 12, 2023.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Gayle led the charge by shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Gayle hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Christian Maxon, who scored 26 points.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayson Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with three steals. Jayden Prosper was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Central's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.
Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northeast at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Landen Joseph and Maxon. Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Palm Beach Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Palm Beach Central is ranked 99th, while Centennial is ranked 81st).
