The Charleston Collegiate Sundevils suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by John Paul II 62-21. While losing is never fun, Charleston Collegiate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while John Paul II is ranked 65th).
It was another big night for Brady Mahoney, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds for John Paul II. Mahoney has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Majorkiewicz, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Charleston Collegiate dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleston Collegiate will take on Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for John Paul II, they will be playing at home against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilton Head Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
