The Riverdale Raiders will square off against the Immokalee Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Riverdale earned a 5-2 victory over Lemon Bay.
Adrianna Manetta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Bundy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Marie Penia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Riverdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lemon Bay only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Immokalee rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.
Maria Marino made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marino was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Immokalee got a massive performance out of Yazmin Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Madison Silguero was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Riverdale's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-9. As for Immokalee, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Immokalee struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverdale took their win against Immokalee in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
