The Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes are taking a road trip to take on the Marinette Marines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fox Valley Lutheran's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Marinette's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Fox Valley Lutheran came up short against Wrightstown and fell 7-2.
Fox Valley Lutheran got a good showing from Ben Beyer, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Fox Valley Lutheran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Heimerl, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Marinette had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Truckers.
Nik Williams looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chase MacGregor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Cooper Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Marinette's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 13-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Fox Valley Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against Marinette when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foxes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
