The West Harrison Hurricanes will square off against the D'Iberville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (West Harrison has six wins dating back to last season, while D'Iberville has five).
On Friday, West Harrison didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against St. Martin, but they still walked away with a 26-21 victory. Those 26 points were actually the fewest the Hurricanes have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Jordan Stapleton had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 102 receiving yards and two scores, while also rushing for 71 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was De'Mario Davies, who threw for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Harrison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 246 rushing yards in 14 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Harrison's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Eddie Hartwell and Jazear Carter, who racked up four sacks between them. Carter has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 14 times he's played. Jaivon Anderson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, D'Iberville took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over Harrison Central. Considering the Warriors have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Chan Harvey and Jaylen Johnson. Harvey rushed for 100 yards and three TDs on only nine carries while Johnson rushed for 81 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.
D'Iberville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jordan Walley and Chaston Ramsey. D'Iberville got some further help from KJ Washington: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles.
West Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for D'Iberville, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. West Harrison has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 377.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like D'Iberville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 188 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
West Harrison was dealt a bruising 46-0 loss at the hands of D'Iberville in their previous matchup back in October of 2020. Can the Hurricanes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
