The Garden Plain Owls can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Independent 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Independent lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylen Phillips-Grey, who scored 20 points. Sir Ryan Dennis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals and five assists.
Garden Plain's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Independent, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

As for Independent, they will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Independent focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
