Ansonia got a 38 - 0 win over Derby last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Shykeem Harmon. Harmon rushed for 253 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Harmon as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Shelton (5th in the power rankings) and North Haven (10th) did not disappoint. Shelton got a somewhat close 28 - 24 victory over North Haven. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Jake Roberts, who earned three touchdowns and 67 yards rushing the ball.
Movin on Up
It was onward and upward for Maloney this week as the team hoisted itself up 13 places in the power rankings -- the largest rise of the week -- after their most recent game. It took its game against Wethersfield by a confident 49 - 18 score. Maloney did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between East Hartford (16th in the power rankings) and Southington (12th). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both East Hartford and Southington put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they play one another this week.
