The Byng Pirates have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Marietta Indians at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. One thing working in Byng's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Byng can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 80-57 margin over Plainview. Given Byng's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Indians are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Marietta's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Madill on the road and fell 57-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Marietta has scored all season.
Byng has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Marietta, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything went Byng's way against the Indians in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the Pirates made off with a 69-44 victory. Does Byng have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
