Arvada has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Denver West Cowboys in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, Arvada humbled DSST: College View with a 54-17 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-8.
Arvada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Ngewasi led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Ngewasi is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dye, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Denver West entered their tilt with Rocky Mountain Prep SMART with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Denver West simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Rocky Mountain Prep SMART 50-15 at home. 50 seems to be a good number for Denver West as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
The victory got Arvada back to even at 3-3. As for Denver West, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Arvada came up short against Denver West in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 44-37. Can Arvada avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
