After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aucilla Christian, Jefferson County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 21-1 margin over the Gadsden County Jaguars. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.
Matthew (Britt) Jimenez and Ja'Lon Crumity were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Jimenez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crumity struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave Jimenez a new career-low in walks (zero). At bat, Jimenez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Crumity scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Crumity has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Jefferson County got a massive performance out of Ulises Reynoza, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Reynoza has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lanzavian Footman, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Jefferson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gadsden County only posted an OBP of .235.
The win got Jefferson County back to even at 1-1.
Coming up, Jefferson County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Aucilla Christian at 7:00 p.m. Aucilla Christian knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Jefferson County likes a good challenge. As for Gadsden County, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on FAMU DRS at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
