Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Grace Christian Academy lost against Battle Ground Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grace Christian Academy Lions were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Ty Gibbs and Ford Deshazo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Gibbs went 10 of 17 on his way to 21 points and eight boards, while Deshazo posted nine points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. With that strong performance, Gibbs is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Wesley Stewart was another key player, putting up eight points.

Grace Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Battle Ground Academy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Columbia Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Battle Ground Academy will take on The Webb School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Battle Ground Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully The Webb School likes a good challenge.
