Green Level is 1-6 against Apex since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Green Level Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Apex Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Green Level has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Green Level fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Athens Drive on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 12-2. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carter Heron made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Apex). They came out on top against Green Level by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
JUSTIN DAVIS looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, CONNOR MORRISEY and ADRIAN GONZALEZ did most of the damage at the plate: MORRISEY scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while GONZALEZ scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. MORRISEY also got two hits, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was COLESON PARTEL, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
The win got Apex back to even at 2-2. As for Green Level, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Green Level has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Apex struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Green Level came up short against Apex when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 7-2. Can Green Level avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
